The Risk Management and Insurance Society (RMIS) is a
professional society at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
The group, which includes both undergraduate and graduate
students, fosters educational opportunities outside the
classroom and promotes relationship building between
students, faculty, and industry professionals. RMIS, which
is not affiliated with a national fraternity, is the oldest risk
management and insurance collegiate society in the country.

Programs
Speaker Series: Each semester RMIS invites leaders in the risk management and insurance profession to address the group on issues of current importance and practical significance. Topics have included discussions of litigation management, claims administration, and risk management consulting, to name a few. Approximately 8-10 speakers address the group each year. The talks, which last for about a half hour, are typically scheduled around noon. RMIS provides lunch to the members attending the discussion.

Spring Banquet: Each spring the Actuarial Science, Risk Management, & Insurance department at the UW-Madison School of Business sponsors a banquet to honor graduating seniors. The banquet is also an opportunity to thank those industry professionals who have contributed to the success of the Risk Management and Insurance Program at the UW-Madison during the past year.

Social Events: RMIS has sponsored a variety of different social events in recent years. These have included attending a hockey game in Milwaukee, a tour of coffee houses in Madison, and bowling in Middleton. Social events are planned to be of interest to as many RMIS members as possible. Events differ from year to year reflecting the changing interests of the student members.
